The "F-word' what does Irina Dunn try to say?

"A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle." -- Irina Dunn

what exactly does Irina Dunn try to say with this quote?
I believe that Dunn used this awkward saying to express how ridiculous it sounds that a women is nothing without a man, she uses her quote to emphasize that the idea is ridiculous by comparing it to an analogy that does not make sense.

  1. Great point but, I don't think a woman is nothing without a man. I honestly think a man/woman should have a companion no matter what gender it is. People shouldn't be lonely and it helps keep things equal in households with not just all the weight on one person.

  2. I also find that it is just idiotic to think that a woman is nothing without a man. If anything, I would argue that (at least)a heterosexual man is nothing without a woman! It is a fact that women give birth to men and that in the earliest stages of development in the womb, we are all female!

I also mostly agree with Amanda. We are by nature, a social creature and social relationships are very important to us. It doesn't take very long after being completely socially issolated to being feeling intense anxiety. This is one of the reaons why complete sensory issolation is one of the most cuel of tortures... it really messes with our brains and long term issolation can even cause brain damage.
